Conservatives

I realize that for my conservative friends my look is disturbing, it is disturbing not because I look particularly ugly but because it shakes their standards of how things should be.

A woman should be womanly and womanly is defined in a very strict way: long hair, well taking care of, no bulky shoes and moderate opinions. The woman is defined as the balance of intelligence and grace where any possible exaggerations are not welcome or to be encouraged.

Maybe I am reading too much into it, but I will continue my observation among the ones who don't approve and the ones who still have some rebellious blood flowing on their veins!

Is it news(letter) material?

I know is only the school newsletter but is really and all-shaved family newsworthy?
Apparently, there was a suggestion that the family in question (us) would be interviewed and be representative of the lice radical solution!

I am not quite sure I want my name to pop out on a google search when the word "lice" would be typed...having said that if I am totally open to share my experience.

(no)hair headed

Well today, I forgot about my hair or lack of it. My neighbor gave me a sign of approval and for a second I didn't know to what she was referring to. Oh Yeah the hair! Thanks neighbor, you are a nice lady and I don't doubt your sincerity.
We were commenting with Stefania that if you are in search of attention by your entourage all you need is a dramatic haircut. You might do nice things: help your kids school, let a pregnant woman cut the line, give 10$ to a homeless but all this so forgetful comparing to having the guts to cut your hair! It is kind of futile...
A drastic hair shave symbolized submission, rebellion, confusion, freedom, anti-femininity and somehow when your only reason is lice it takes away the magic, the tale is not as interesting.

Shopping in the City

In the process of rethinking my wardrobe I am going for a little shopping on the lower fifth avenue, my favorite place with little congestion and acceptable attitude.
You have to be in Manhattan to feel very cool with hair my length. I am not getting any looks or maybe very imperceptible ones. Now I know why all the weirdo, original, anti conformist want to move here.

The point of this shopping is to avoid dark winter colors and try anything pastel and light.
It was about time to abandon the black and dark grey anyway ... !

I had to wear my Chiapas hat on my way back...I was cold!
